As the use of Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy continues to grow each year, we are excited to offer our expertise to ensure that everyone can use this equipment to its full potential. In light of this, we have developed a one-day introductory course on fNIRS that is open to anyone interested in Near Infrared Spectroscopy, including students, postgraduates, researchers, new users, and other professionals.

The Introduction Course will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, in Room 102 (Statistics Lecture Room) at the UCL in 1-19 Torrington Place which is a University building just off Tottenham Court Road.

The fNIRS introduction course will be divided into two different parts:
Theoretical background — learn more about:
The theory and technology behind fNIRS
fNIRS applications in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, and sports science
Applicable experimental setup and analysis methods
Practical hands-on session with Artinis & NIRx devices and a walkthrough of Brite Connect and Aurora software: Put the acquired theoretical knowledge into practice and perform different fNIRS experiments from set-up to simple data analysis.
This fNIRS introduction course has limited spots for 35 participants. Therefore, we operate on a ‘first come, first served’ policy.
